North Darfur displaced abducted for SDG5,000 ransom
A group of gunmen on Sunday abducted a displaced man at the market of Saraf Umra, North Darfur, and plundered a number of shops. A relative of the abducted told Radio Dabanga that on Sunday “government-backed militiamen” in a Land Cruiser raided the Saraf Umra market, and abducted displaced Mohamed Sinin. “They contacted the family not much later, demanding a ransom of SDG5,000 ($870) for his release.” “The gunmen returned to the market in the evening, and plundered four shops at gunpoint.” He appealed to the authorities and Unamid to protect the citizens, deter the militias, arrest the offenders, and bring them to justice.
