Herders killed in Darfur’s East Jebel Marra
Three herders were shot dead in an armed robbery in East Jebel Marra on Thursday. “At about 8 pm on Thursday evening, a group of nine gunmen coming from El Malam, attacked camel herders in El Dara, in the area of Kaja,” a herder reported to Radio Dabanga from East Jebel Marra. “The gunmen fired at the herders, killing three of them. They then stole all their belongings, and seven camels, and fled towards El Malam.” The three victims are Mahjoub Mohamed Hussein Saleh (35), Adam Hari Shogar (27), and Haroun Daoud Eisa (25). The source added that “since two days, aircrafts of the Sudanese Air Force are intensively exploring the area of East Jebel Marra, without striking”. He also said that diseases are spreading, “such as watery diarrhoea, and swellings in the neck, in particular among children”, and complained about the lack of medical care in the region.
