‘Soldiers impede transportation in Kutum, North Darfur’: witness
Military members raided breweries, burned and confiscated vehicles, and stopped all motor cycles without number plates on Tuesday and Wednesday in Kutum town, North Darfur, according to a witness report. A resident in Kutum told Radio Dabanga that a force from the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in ten vehicles launched “a relentless campaign” in the past two days. “They also closed car shops and shops that sell spare parts for motorcycles.” He pointed out that security and stability cannot be achieved in the locality without the return of the judicial organs, including the police. “The authorities withdrew from Kutum two and a half years ago and have not returned so far,” the resident said.
