Livestock damage crops in South Darfur’s Kass
Livestock, released by force of arms on farmlands south of Kass in South Darfur, destroyed a large number of crops last week. An affected farmer from the area told Radio Dabanga on Friday that armed herders drove their camels and cattle onto the agricultural areas of Dilu, Takojul, Daura, Mashrou, Sankada, Aldanga, Kasulo, and Guba three days before. “The government-backed herders terrorised us by heavily firing into the air, while releasing their livestock into the farms. Until now, the damages are estimated at thousands of Sudanese pounds.” The farmer called upon the local and South Darfur state authorities to intervene, and protect the farmers and their farmlands, “so that we can harvest our crops”.
