Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, Head of the EU Delegation to Sudan, has met with Dr Hassan Abdallah El Turabi, and other senior party members of the Popular Congress Party (PCP).
After the meeting, Ambassador Ulincy told the press that the purpose of the meeting was to better understand the opinion and position of the PCP concerning the National Dialogue process.
The EU Ambassador said that he reiterated the EU’s support for a transparent, comprehensive, and inclusive reform process that will restore peace and stability in Sudan and the region.
“Reconciliation can be achieved only if parties from the full spectrum of society and all regions are on board,” he stated.
He further discussed with the PCP leaders the concerns of the European countries about the “role of extremist elements in damaging the relations between Sudan and the West,” the press release reads.
The European diplomat said that while the spread of extremist ideologies and networks should be confronted, the values of tolerance, inter-faith dialogue, and coexistence should be promoted.
