Abducted World Vision staff member released in Darfur
The Sudanese staff member of the international World Vision organisation, who was abducted in Nyala one month ago, was released on 5 February.
The news of Yasir Adam Khater’s release was confirmed today by World Vision.
On 14 January, four gunmen in a Land Cruiser intercepted the vehicle of the assistant head of the organisation’s Nyala office, in El Tadamon district in the South Darfur capital.

On 14 January, four gunmen in a Land Cruiser intercepted the vehicle of the assistant head of the organisation’s Nyala office, in El Tadamon district in the South Darfur capital.
They forced him into their vehicle and drove in the direction north of the town, leaving Khater’s car behind.
It is unknown if a ransom has been paid.
