Paramilitary troops lashed two men at the Thur market in Nierteti locality, Central Darfur, on Friday. The victims were transported to the military garrison in the area, and tortured by agents of the Military Intelligence.
Speaking to Dabanga, a relative of one of the victims said that a group of government-backed militiamen held Adam Abakar Musa and Izzeldin Adam Abdelrahman at the market.
“Each of them received 50 lashes at the market, in front of everyone. Agents of the Military Intelligence, who were present during the assault, then took the two to the military garrison in the area. There, they were tortured again to the extent that Musa fell into a coma.”
The relative claimed that the militiamen men gave no reason for the lashing.
