Four members of the security police were arrested last week after they joined a posse to retrieve stolen cows.
The deputy police director of Kass locality in South Darfur, Ali Abdul Latif, arrested El Zein Ahmed El Zein, Haroun Adam Bashar, El Hafiz Hamza, and Adil El Zein, as soon as they returned from the rescue mission.
Latif claims that “they participated in a local rescue team, which recovered stolen cows of people believed to be loyal to the armed movements”.
A relative of the detainees told Radio Dabanga that Latif arrested the policemen and detained them in Kass prison.
He also seized the 14 recovered cows and demanded SDG 5,000 for their release.
