Blackout chaos at Nyala Teaching Hospital
A power cut at Nyala Teaching Hospital that lasted from sunset on Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning has created fear and chaos.
Relatives accompanying patients took them out of the wards because of the heat and a lack of adequate ventilation. Some took the patients to the intensive care rooms where the power was fed by an emergency generator.
“We did not find any hospital managers or medical doctors to speak to,” a relative of a patient complained to Radio Dabanga.
He said that the condition of young patients in need of oxygen became “quite critical”.
A medical source told Radio Dabanga that the blackout was caused by the failure to meet advance payment for electricity.
