SPLM-N claims defeat of government forces in Blue Nile
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) reported the killing of 20 army troops and militiamen in the area of Kilgo, Bau locality, on Thursday.
The rebel fighters also seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition, SPLM-N spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi told Radio Dabanga.
He said that the rebels repulsed an attack of a military convoy with eight tanks in the Kilgo hills. The battle that lasted six hours led to the killing of 20 government troops. Dozens of others were injured. The remainder of the convoy fled towards the Blue Nile capital of Ed Damazin.
Lodi noted that the attack confirms “the lies of the Khartoum regime”, pointing to President Omar Al Bashir’s announcement of a unilateral ceasefire in August this year.
