Agents of Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) seized the print runs of El Sayha daily newspaper on Sunday, and then again on Monday, without giving any reasons.

The newspaper, owned by El Tayeb Mustafa, the uncle of Sudan’s President Al Bashir, was confiscated less than a week after seizure of El Taghyeer newspaper owned by the Minister of Health in Khartoum state, Mamoun Hummeida.

The Sudanese security imposes severe restrictions on press freedoms and freedom of circulation, prior censorship and red lines policy in a country classified to rank at the bottom of the world press freedom index.
