Trilateral action team’s Darfur report, Unamid exit on Khartoum agenda

In a press statement via the official Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) today, the Director of the Peace and Humanitarian Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ali El Sadig, said that the 21st meeting at the strategic level of the Joint Mechanism of the United Nations, the African Union and Sudan government is due to be held Monday at the Sudanese Foreign Ministry in Khartoum.
The mechanism will discuss the strategy on Unamid’s exit.
Also on the agenda for discussion is the report of the joint action group which finalised its weeklong visit to Darfur on Friday.
A joint trilateral action team from the United Nations, the African Union, and the Sudanese government visited Darfur last week to assess the reality of the situation on the ground.
Al Sadig pointed out that the joint action group reviewed all issues pertinent to the implementation of the authorization given to the Unamid in accordance with the Security Council resolutions.
