Women arrested for protest against South Darfur police

Police in Kass, South Darfur, arrested nine displaced women who were protesting in front of the police station on Saturday.

Police in Kass, South Darfur, arrested nine displaced women who were protesting in front of the police station on Saturday.

Initially policemen arrested a displaced woman, who resides in camp Tur, from a house in Kass. Another woman filed a complaint that the house belongs to her and she demanded it be vacated.

Following the arrest, a group of displaced women from Tur marched to the police station in protest against the move. They demanded her immediate release; however the police dispersed the crowd and arrested nine women on charges of assault on the police station.
