Darfur’s Rizeigat, Ma’aliya tribes sign peace

South Darfur Governor Adam El Faki said at the signing ceremony that apprehending unruly groups among the tribes and the role played by the regular forces led to the successful tribal reconciliation.

South Darfur will become free of tribal conflicts soon, he said, disclosing that the state government has formed a committee to open routes that will try to avert friction between shepherds and farmers.

Both the representatives of the Rizeigat, chief Musa Osman, as the representative of the Misseriya, Mohammed Salih Kabo affirmed their commitment to the deal.

13 people were killed, others wounded, and two vehicles were destroyed in clashes that broke out between gunmen from the Rizeigat and Ma’aliya tribes in the Tor Taan area of Yassin locality in East Darfur on Sunday April 17.
