A bus that belongs to a travel company was stopped by an armed group between Nyala and Mukjar on Sunday. The attackers beat the passengers and stole money, phones and luggage.

One of the passengers told Radio Dabanga that members of a paramilitary group, driving motorcycles and others riding camels, stopped the bus by opening fire, while it was on its way from Nyala to Mukjar in Central Darfur.

“The gunmen beat us with rifle butts and sticks before seizing about 25 mobile phones, SDG16,000 ($2,620), and the luggage,” the passenger said. There were more than 35 people on board.
