Suspects of suicide bombing apprehended in Central Darfur

Two of the militants were apprehended on Tuesday at 2.45 pm, a source in the municipality of Um Dukhun told Radio Dabanga. Their names are Sherif Mohamed Adam and Idris 'Abu Digin'. A thid one, whose name remains unknown, managed to flee.

The armed Islamists were in the possession of grenades and other explosives which they were supposedly going to use in a bombing during celebrations that marked the end of Ramadan last Tuesday, the source said.

The information that has led to the arrest of the militants was obtained from sources in Chad.

Both suspects are held at the security service's office in Um Dukhun and await a transfer to Khartoum, the source added.

Another source in Um Dukhun told Radio Dabanga that the Chadian authorities requested the two suspects to be handed over because of their connection with a militant group, that was recently arrested in Chad.
