Activists detained to prevent meeting in South Kordofan

Security agents detained two young men in Abu Jubeiha in South Kordofan today. They were released hours later, one of their colleagues told Radio Dabanga.

He explained that a group of young activists wanted to organise a public meeting on Wednesday morning, to discuss the deterioration of water and power services, health care, and the roads in Abu Jubeiha locality.

“When we were on our way to the security apparatus office to request a permit for the meeting, security officers detained two of out group. They were released late in the afternoon, after they had been questioned about their backgrounds and the purpose of the meeting.

The security officers further ordered the director of the El Belsem School to close the buildings, as the meeting was to take place at the school.
