A Central Darfur Omda has been abducted after refusing to pay compensation for a militiaman’s broken finger.
The episode began when one of the militia members allegedly broke into a shop run by Omda Ahmed Abdelkarim at his home in Fassi in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur on Wednesday.
A relative of the victim told Radio Dabanga that the Omda tackled the burglar, who suffered a broken finger in the fray.
The would-be robber returned later and demanded SDG5,000 ($785) in compensation, which the Omda reluctantly paid. The militiaman returned later with several colleagues and demanded a further SDG5,000. When the Omda refused, the men seized him and carried him off.
