Merchants in Babanusa and Meram areas have complained that National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) agents confiscated their goods at El Dibeibat checkpoint, and imposed fines on them several times – the last instance was on Tuesday.
Various items were confiscated from Ismail Adam, Mohamed Ali Ibrahim, Mohamed El Tilib, and Ibrahim Ali, who allege they were indeed holding the correct permits.
The merchants have called on the authorities to intervene to resolve the problem.
