Two displaced people were admitted to El Fasher hospital with gunshot wounds on Wednesday, after a militiamen opened fire on them at Kabkabiya market in North Darfur.
The coordinator of the Kabakabiya camps for the displaced told Radio Dabanga that Yousif Mohammed Saleh and Mutawakil Ibrahim Jeish of camp Ameera north of Kabkabiya went to the market to shop on Wednesday.
When they arrived, a militiaman – purporting to be one of the ‘market guards’ – insisted on checking them. When they refused to comply, the gunman opened fire.
South of El Fasher, six families who have fled from the villages of Sisilat, Bawabat Sigilly, Um Hashab and Hillet Adam Mongo, arrived at camp Zamzam on Wednesday.
One of the leaders of camp Zamzam told Radio Dabanga that the families fled their villages to the camp as a result of the deterioration of the security situation in those areas.
He explained that the families reported that armed herdsmen drive their camels and cattle onto the farms by force of arms, attack farmers and steal their property.
