Journalist and economic analyst Kamal Karrar questions reports issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics that the inflation rate during October 2016m was 1.3%.
Karrar told Radio Dabanga that the actual inflation rate in Sudan has risen by more than 100%.
He said last October, the rise in consumer prices and the rise of the US Dollar against the Sudanese Pound led to a surge in inflation.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the security apparatus arrested dozens of people suspected of foreign currency trafficking at El Baraka Tower in Khartoum. One of the traders said that the security raids have netted more than 40 currency traders in the Arabi Market area in an attempt by the government to reduce the rise in Dollar that has amounted to more than SDG 18 on the Khartoum market this week.
