Two farmers killed in North Darfur

Two men have been killed in separate incidents in North Darfur, at the hands of armed herders. The RSF commander donated cars to tribal leaders in Nyala yesterday.

On Monday morning, herders shot farmer Adam Bakhit Yahya in East Jebel Marra. A relative of Yahya told Radio Dabanga that two armed shepherds opened fire on the farmer while he was tilling his farm in Tamra, west of Khazan Tunjur, at about 9am. He was killed on the spot.

The perpetrators then stole his money and belongings and left Yahya on the ground.

In Shangil Tobaya, armed herders shot Dictor Ibrahim Hamed, a displaced man of Shadad camp on Tuesday. A Sheikh of the camp told Radio Dabanga that a group of armed herders entered their livestock and camels on the farm of Ibrahim Hamed. When he tried to chase away the animals, the herders attacked him and shot him dead.

The incident was reported to Shangil Tobaya's police. Hamed was buried at the graves of Shadad on Tuesday.

Donation

The commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Maj. General Mohamed Hamdan Hemeti, donated twenty cars to the native administration leaders in South Darfur. The gift falls within a project to improve the means of transportation for tribal chiefs in the state.

In his address to the donation ceremony in Nyala on Tuesday, Hemeti said that the step is similar to a donation in North Darfur. He said he facilitated the roles of the native administration in resolving tribal conflicts and repairing the social fabric in the area.
