Market closes after merchant killed in West Kordofan

El Tahir El Nadif was shot dead in his house in El Jabarat district on Thursday by unknown attackers. He had refused to hand over his money to them.
The chamber of commerce decided to close the market for a period of three days, from Thursday to Saturday, in protest against the killing of El Nadif.
Series of crimes
Amara El Sir Mahana of the West Kordofan branch of the Khartoum International Centre for Human Rights told Radio Dabanga about a killings and theft that have been reported throughout the state.
He said: “One of the most notable incidents was the attack and breaking of a leg of a on Friday 29 December, and the robbing of a merchant in Babanousa market on Monday.”
El Mahana attributed the killings and robberies in the state to a lack of security and the fact that the outlaws carry illegal weapons which have not been seized by the current disarmament campaign.
