South Darfur child dead after collision with RSF vehicle

A child has died following a collision with a vehicle driven by a member of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) government militia on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the town of Kass. A relative of the child reported to Radio Dabanga that following the incident, the child’s body was taken to an unknown destination.

The incident caused public anger, which led to the closure of the market, and an eruption of mass demonstrations in Kass. The protestors demand that the body is handed over to the family and that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The relative says that the police filed a complaint against another person and disregarded witness testimonies. He said that they went to the headquarters of the brigade, where they were told to search for the body themselves and notify the army of the results.

The protesters said they will stay at the sit-in in Kass until the perpetrators are brought to justice and the child’s body is handed over to the parents.

In February, two brothers were crushed in Khartoum North when a runaway vehicle belonging to the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) destroyed part of their home. One boy is deadid, while the other sustained life-threatening injuries..

Residents of the neighbourhood said a vehicle belonging to the security forces with no licence plates, driven by and NISS agent, collided with the home of the two brothers in Darushab in Khartoum North, and demolished the outer wall.
