Zalingei IDPs accuse government of targeting camp leaders
Displaced people at Hamidiya camp in Zalingei have said that the security service and the governor of Central Darfur asked them to hand over camp resident Adam Ahmed Ishaq, who is accused of killing Abdul Jabbar, shot dead last week in the camp. The family of Ishaq reportedly asked the police to exhume the body for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.Zalingei camp coordinator told Radio Dabanga that camp leaders and the family of Ishaq gathered at the UN/African Union Mission in Darfur headquarter to discuss the developments. He said the family denied that it had asked for an autopsy and said the person that went to the police must be responsible for the shooting. The coordinator said the leaders and the family accused the government of targeting camp leaders and invading the camps to try to dismantle them. They also accused the government and its militias of killing Abdul Jabbar and ordering other killings in the camps.
