Youth killed, another injured playing with grenade in West Darfur
A displaced youth from Saraf Jidad camp in West Darfur has been killed and another wounded when a grenade they found exploded. A camp sheikh told Radio Dabanga that 15-year-old Ibrahim Bakhit died and Majdi Abdulla Abbas was wounded in the explosion. The youths reportedly found the grenade near to the camp and were playing with it when it went off. Abbas was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident. After more than a decade of hostilities, Darfur is littered with the debris of war, which includes unexploded munitions. Camp and youth leaders have repeated their appeal to both adults and children not to touch such objects, but to mark their position and notify the police, Unamid or their camp authorities.
