Workers refuse reduced salaries in South Darfur
Teachers and public administration workers have refused to receive their salaries for the month of December in Adila locality, South Darfur, an employee told Radio Dabanga. The salaries of each person were missing 15 percent. This money is supposed to come from Adila, whilst the 85 percent is paid by the state of South Darfur. The Executive Administrator for Adila said that the locality was unable to provide the missing money, as they had not received all taxes from the markets and businesses in the area. The source said the trade unions filed a memorandum to the governor of South Darfur to demand full payment of wages such as those paid to security services and police in the area. They said they categorically refuse to take incomplete wages.
