Darfuri woman dies during pilgrimage in Mina
A pilgrim from Darfur died by natural cause in Mina, near Mecca in Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.
A pilgrim from Darfur died by natural cause in Mina, near Mecca in Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.
The 65-year-old pilgrim, Fatma Saleh Izzedin Gurashi, was performing the pilgrimage ceremony in Mina. She lives in East Darfur.
Dr Khalid Haji Nur, the coordinator of the medical mission in Mecca has reported that her death occurred naturally. Gurashi died in Mina hospital.
Last year's Hajj, the pilgrimage, was afflicted by a double tragedy. On 11 September, some days before the start of the Hajj, a construction crane collapsed at the Grand Mosque, Islam's holiest site, killing 109 people including many foreigners. Reportedly nine Sudanese pilgrims died in a stampede and crush near Mecca.
