Residents of El Muglad, El Fula, and Babanusa localities in West Kordofan complain of a severe deterioration in the provision of basic services such as water and electricity.
State employee El Kheir Ali told Radio Dabanga from the town of Babanusa that the provision of water and electricity is significantly below the required level.
“The network for drinking water only operates three times a month despite the fact that we have paid the full monthly bill of SDG 120 ($2.66*)”, he said. “The electricity network in the town provides electricity for about three hours a day, so it is difficult to follow important news.”
Rough roads
Ali also complained about rough roads and lack of asphalt in most of the localities of West Kordofan.
He attributed the weakness of services to poor planning, technical faults, and insufficient supervision by the state authorities.
