West Kordofan pipeline protesters detained
Security agents detained 11 activists in El Gantour in West Kordofan on Tuesday.
The activists were involved in protests against the construction of an oil pipeline that will pass through residential zones in the area.
“The pipeline will even pass through some of the homes,” an angry resident told Radio Dabanga from El Gantour.
“We filed a complaint against the company responsible for construction of the pipeline, demanding compensation,” he said. “We also tried to stop the construction.”
The detainees were transported to the state capital of El Fula.
