West Kordofan employees denounce salary deductions
West Kordofan state employees denounce the deduction from their salaries to cover the expenses of receiving President Omar Al Bashir during his recent visit to the state.
The West Kordofan branch of the Sudan Workers’ Trade Union Federation (SWTUF) decided to deduct an amount of SDG5 ($0.81) from the salary of each government employee in the state for an unknown number of months to cover the expenses of the visit between 31 August and 1 September.

One of the employees told Radio Dabanga that the Union did not consult them about the deduction.
“Without our consent, the Union decided to donate a large amount to the West Kordofan authorities for the reception of the President that reportedly cost more than SDG2 million ($326,000).”
