West Darfur school lacks teachers

Students also complain about poor infrastructure and food shortageStudents of West Darfur’s Sirba higher secondary school complained on Monday regarding the lack of teachers, textbooks and seating.One of the students who spoke to Radio Dabanga said that they missed teachers for eight courses. “The school could not provide teachers for six subjects for Grade I and II since the beginning of the year. This included physics, computer science, engineering science, family science, agriculture, livestock and agricultural production. The third grade didn’t have mathematics and Arabic teachers,” the student told Radio Dabanga.Other students belonging to the third grade also complained of lack of teachers, books, and infrastructure as well as security within the Sirba higher secondary school. Due to the lack of teachers in the Science stream, none of the students is able to give the higher secondary examination for Science.“We also face food shortage within the camps. I would like to appeal to the Department of Education in West Darfur on behalf of all students to provide teachers, textbooks, security and food to local students who have been displaced,” the student said.
