West Darfur’s capital in fear of militia attacks
Residents of El Geneina town are living in fear of militiamen stationed nearby. Militiamen seriously injured a resident of the Aramta camp for the displaced in El Geneina locality, West Darfur, on Thursday.Citizens in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, told Radio Dabanga that since 20 April they are living in great fear. “Militia elements, stationed at Wadi Rati, 15 km south of El Geneina, are almost daily roaming around the city. People prefer to stay at home and shopkeepers close their shops early fearing an attack and the plundering of the markets.“At the Aramta camp Janjaweed attacked Haroun Abdallah Mohamed inside his shelter on Thursday evening”, a relative of the victim reported to Radio Dabanga. “They wanted to rob him. When he resisted, they shot him in the chest and legs.
