West Darfur announces ‘murderers of Unamid forces killed’

A joint security force has allegedly killed two men suspected of attacking and killing Unamid forces in El Geneina, West Darfur, the state Governor announced. He said the men were killed on 13 October, the same day they murdered the peacekeepers.West Darfur Governor El Amin Baraka told Radio Dabanga that police, security, and military forces managed to track down two of the perpetrators, who resisted their arrest and were killed in a fire-fight with the authorities.He explained that the armed forces returned to El Geneina with the bodies of the two suspects, which were placed in a morgue “to show citizens that any criminal should be killed.”Calling the killing of the peacekeepers “an isolated event carried out by ordinary thugs”, the governor asserted his state is free of insurgents and of tribal conflicts.
