People in West Darfur have suffered from a water shortage despite the payment of the monthly water subscription. The fuel crisis continues in Sudanese states as ministers warned fuel distributors not to manipulate the daily fuel quotas.

There is a lack of water that runs through the pipes to houses in West Darfur, a listener reproted. “Despite the people paying the monthly water subscription, amounting to SDG30.”

The Ministry of Urban Planning attributed the shortage to the water network and the fluctuation of electricity. It said there is a lack of financial resources to face the crisis.

Fuel shortage

Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning Abdelrahman Dirar acknowledged that a number of states have faced a shortage of fuel. He attributed this to the difference between the transportation prices and said he expects the problem to end by the end of April.

Related to this the Ministry of Oil and Gas has warned fuel distribution companies against manipulating the daily fuel quotas. In a press statement the ministry threatened to punish the violating companies with penalties, including the withdrawal of their license.

In a statement on Sunday, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Bakheet Ahmed Abdallah called on the fuel distribution companies to instruct the petrol stations not to tamper with the daily quotas.

He said that his ministry is daily distributing more than enough fuel among the petrol stations in the country. Abdallah also announced the arrival of a number of ships loaded with fuel to Port Sudan.
