The residents of El Fasher have complained of shortages and scarcity of drinking water and a rise in food prices and consumer goods.

One of the residents told Radio Dabanga that the water shortage has seen the price for a barrel rise to SDG30 ($5) and a Funtaz to SDG60 ($10).

He said the city districts have also been suffering from repeated electricity outages, this along with a significant rise in the prices of food and commodities with the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
