The displaced people of Mukjar and Abu Suruj camps in West Darfur rejected the fees which were imposed by the housing authorities to clear them out and give them housing plots. One of the displaced people told Radio Dabanga that they refused to go back to their areas of origin till the new inhabitants be thrown out and security be provided. After this refusal, the authorities of West Darfur decided to clear the camp and give the residents temporary plots where they would be staying on for the time being. However, they would be required to pay a 250 pound fee.
The IDP said that they have rejected the decision as they don’t have that amount of money with them.
