Villagers in Sudan’s White Nile to boycott elections
The residents of El Tamarat village, north of Kosti in White Nile state, will boycott the upcoming April 2015 general elections. “The more than 10,000 people living in El Tamarat will never vote for President Al Bashir, in any election,” a villager reported to Radio Dabanga.“We told the electoral registration staff members visiting El Tamarat recently, that they would be buried in the village, if they would not leave the area immediately. “The National Congress Party (NCP) has not provided us with any single service since [they took power in] 1989. Instead, they have drowned us with fees and taxes,” he complained. “No electricity has been provided until now, though we have knocked on NCP doors more than once. And when torrents flooded our village this rainy season, we did not receive support at all.” File photo: President Omar Al Bashir (defenceweb.co.za)
