Villagers facing acute water shortages in Dar El Salaam

Eight villages in Dar El Salaam in North Darfur are experiencing extreme shortages of water as the one working pump in the region stopped working. Since recent violent events with militias local authorities have also not guaranteed security for residents searching for water. Sources said around 15,000 people and thousands of livestock have been displaced because of the lack of water. They called on authorities to provide protection and security in the region to put an end to the abuses committed by armed groups.
