Value of Sudanese pound decreases
The value of the Sudanese pounds against the American dollar dropped on Sunday after the announcement of the newly-independent nation of south Sudan amidst fears of the Sudanese economy losing revenues of oil extracted from the south and which represents 73% of the total oil production of Sudan. One of the traders in currencies in Khartoum told AFP that the price of the US dollar has increased against the Sudanese pounds to reach 4.2 pounds for selling and 3.42 for buying on the previous Thursday while the official rate in banks according to the central bank of Sudan remains to be 2.74 pounds per dollar.
