US renews Sudan’s status on list of terrorist-sponsoring countries
The United States renewed the “State Sponsor of Terrorism” designation for Sudan. The country has been on the list since August 1993.
The United States renewed the “State Sponsor of Terrorism” designation for Sudan. The country has been on the list since August 1993.In its Country Reports on Terrorism published last Thursday, the State Department said that despite cooperation from Khartoum with US efforts to fight terrorism, “Al-Qa’ida-inspired terrorist elements as well as elements of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and HAMAS, remained in Sudan in 2009.” The countries that remain on the American list are Sudan, Iran, Cuba and Syria.
