UN Security Council to meet Monday on Abyei, Kordofan
Ambassador Girard Araud, the French envoy to the United Nations, said that his country has requested a meeting of the Security Council regarding the issue of Sudan, in light of reports of ongoing violence in the regions of Abyei and Southern Kordofan and the targeting of civilians.
Ambassador Girard Araud, the French envoy to the United Nations, said that his country has requested a meeting of the Security Council regarding the issue of Sudan, in light of reports of ongoing violence in the regions of Abyei and Southern Kordofan and the targeting of civilians.Araud said that his country also called for a meeting to know the humanitarian conditions in South Kordofan and stated in a press conference after closed consultations held by the Council concerning Sudan that the Security Council will meet on Monday to discuss the political situation in Sudan. He added that there must be political solutions to the conflicts in Abyei and South Kordofan
