Peacekeepers will visit Jebel Moon in West Darfur after reportedly heavy fighting in the area. One patrol will assess the security situation and a later one will escort a humanitarian assessment team to the mountainous area. The UN-African Union Peacekeeping Mission (UNAMID) had been appealing for access to the area since at least January. Noureddine Mezni, the official spokesperson, told the website Sudan Tribune that the hybrid mission is dispatching soon a verification team to Jebel Moon to assess the security situation there. The team will be sent from a base in Kulbus which is around 50 to 60 km from Jebel Moon area. The erstwhile rebel stronghold was seized by government forces last week
