Two young men set on fire in El Fasher, North Darfur
A young man was burned to death, and another severely injured by militiamen in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur on Wednesday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, multiple witnesses said that four “government-backed militiamen” on Wednesday evening intercepted Khalid Abdallah Yousif (16) and Abdel Latif Abdallah Suleiman (17) near the Koran school of El Faki Adam in El Fasher’s western El Nasr district, with the aim to rob them. However they only found a gallon of diesel that the two youngsters were taking to the father of one of them, whose car had ran out of fuel on the way between the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced and El Fasher. The militiamen tied up Yousif and Suleiman, poured diesel and set fire to them. Yousif died later of his injuries in El Fasher Hospital, while Suleiman is still in a critical condition, the witnesses said. A “rescue team” was formed that tracked down the offenders. Two of them were seized, together with a woman, in El Mustagbal district of El Fasher. Two other militiamen fled. File photo
