Two North Darfur women held hostage for stolen camels
Abbala tribesmen abducted two women in the area of Um Jarwa in El Sareif Beni Hussein locality, North Darfur, on Saturday. A relative of the abductees told Radio Dabanga that Abbala gunmen on Saturday came to the area of Um Jarwa, located 7km south of El Sareif town, in search of two camel cows they claimed were stolen. “When they did not find the camels, they seized two women, Maryam Ali Ahmed (65), and Aisha Mohamed Suleiman (50), who is deaf, and took them with them as hostages. The Abbala told us that the women will only be released when the two camels have been returned to them.” File photo by Albert González Farran/Unamid
