Two German aid workers kidnapped in Darfur
Two aid workers from the German aid organization Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) were kidnapped last night in South Darfur. Gunmen entered their residence in the town of Nyala. The abduction occurred at 10:00 at night, a THW official confirmed. Juergen Maresch, the country director of THW in Sudan, confirmed that the kidnapped men are both German, contrary to earlier press reports that had suggested that one is German and the other Dutch. Maresch declined further comment, referring the case to the German Foreign Ministry.
