Two gang-raped in Darfur’s Jebel Marra

Three Sudanese Army soldiers reportedly raped two young women near Deribat in Jebel Marra on Thursday. The women, aged 15 and 17, from Talba village, 3km north of Deribat, left the village to fetch firewood on Thursday morning, when three soldiers seized them. They gang-raped them for four hours, a relative of one of the women told Radio Dabanga. “When they did not return with firewood, we went to search for them. We found them lying on the ground in a very bad condition. The soldiers fled to their base in Deribat.” File photo: A young woman carrying firewood into the Khor Abeche Unamid base, South Darfur (Albert González Farran/Unamid)
