Two farmers shot in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur
On Tuesday, two displaced farmers were shot by herders in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur. “Herdsmen released their livestock on farmlands in Wadi Zor, north of Wadi Azum, about 3km from the Hamidiya camp for the displaced in Zalingei locality on Tuesday”, the coordinator of the Central Darfur camps told Radio Dabanga. “When the herders began to cut mango trees at their farmlands, the farmers protested, whereupon the assailants fired at them. Mohamed Khojali and Abdo Mohamed Adam from Hamidiya camp were injured.” The camp coordinator described the assaults by armed herdsmen at the outskirts of Wadi Azum as a “deliberate attempt to sabotage the agricultural season”.
