Two die in robbery in Darfur’s East Jebel Marra
Gunmen opened fire on a commercial vehicle in North Darfur on Friday, killing a woman and her child. The vehicle’s driver was robbed, and its load stolen. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, one of the passengers reported that a Toyota pick-up was ambushed en route from the Fanga market in East Jebel Marra to the Zamzam camp for the displaced near North Darfur’s capital El Fasher on Friday.“In the area of Tarnei, west of Khazan Tunjur, seven government-backed militiamen in a Land Cruiser opened fire on our vehicle. Khadija Ismail Abakar (45), and her infant son Daoud Eisa Yahya (1), who were sitting at the front seat, were killed immediately. The driver and the five passengers survived the incident.” They took all the fruits loaded on the Toyota, and robbed the vehicle’s owner, Azhari Ibrahim, of SDG3,000 ($525), the source added.
