Two dead as ‘Abu Tira’ attack displaced group in South Darfur
Militiamen in uniforms killed two displaced men near Kalma camp in Nyala locality, South Darfur on Wednesday, and wounded six others. Seven displaced people are still missing after the attack. Elements of a government-backed militia, some in Central Reserve Forces’ (known as Abu Tira) uniforms, riding horses and camels intercepted about 26 people from the Kalma camp for the displaced as they were on their way to collect firewood. Hussein Abu Sharati told Radio Dabanga that the Abu Tira forced the group at gunpoint to hand over their donkeys, horses and donkey carts, and then started shooting. Suleiman Mohamed Ishaq (30) and Musa Mohamed Abdel (22) were killed in the attack; Ahmed Abdulah (37), Daoud Ibrahim Abakar (40), Abdulah Abakar Abdulah (38), Salim Mohamed Salim (30), Alher Al Tahir Hamid (27), and Nur El Din Ahmed Hassan (22) were wounded. Abu Sharati reported that four of the injured were transferred to a hospital in Nyala. They are in critical condition. Seven people of the group are missing, including a woman and a child.
